Here’s a little bit about me and why I started this business.
What inspired you to start the business?
I wanted to share my DIY lawn care knowledge with homeowners who wanted to improve the condition of their lawns. As many of the best lawn care products are reserved for the professional lawn care industry — I felt there was a gap in the market. I found I was getting great results from using certain products for grass maintenance, and I wanted to share this information with others.
Lawn care maintenance should be accessible to everyone, so I started my own YouTube channel offering free advice. Here, you’ll find all my tips and tricks — even lawn care for beginners. Any challenges you faced on the way?
Growing a business from scratch is a challenge and not one to be underestimated. I had to learn how to source products and the ins and outs of shipping logistics — while expanding my business at the same time. Some of the most challenging aspects were understanding advertising, marketing, and SEO, where I had a lot to learn. Even today, I’m still learning.
Why is having a healthy lawn so important?
Firstly, a healthy lawn looks better. A green flourishing lawn is a massive bonus if you’re trying to sell your house or enhance your home’s exterior. In addition, a healthy lawn is more weed and disease resistant, which helps you save money on lawn fertilizers, weed killers, and water bills. As I’ve mentioned, a healthy lawn is also better for the environment — so it’s cost-effective and green in more ways than one.
What does the future of lawn-care look like?
Due to a rise in eco-consciousness in every industry, I think we’re moving towards more organic methods of lawn care. We’re already seeing organic, sustainable lawn care companies like Mirimichi Green producing bio-based products.
Instead of using fertilizer for quick, visible results — the emphasis will change to healthier soil. Healthy soil is already a key component of producing a healthy lawn. If your soil’s pH is too acidic or alkaline, your lawn will suffer, and grass maintenance will be challenging. To find out precisely what’s going on beneath your grass, invest in a home soil test kit that is highly accurate and easy to use. Eventually, the lawn care industry will switch to battery or solar-powered electrical products to decrease carbon emissions.
